My name is Chris Lord, I am British born and bred but have lived in New York City for many years, both of which may account for a little eccentricity. Creating these eclectic images is my favorite thing to do. Photography has been an obsession at some level or other since I was thirteen years old and went off to Italy clutching my mother’s folding accordion style 1940s Kodak camera. I had a darkroom at one point a few years ago but pouring chemicals in and out of containers and waiting, waiting waiting for that timer to buzz was not my idea of fun. Now we have computers and I’ve been fooling with one or another since I bought an Amiga 1000 back on the first day that they were available in 1985. My first computer photos were digitized into the Amiga using a black and white closed circuit TV camera making three exposures through the green, red and blue cells of a color wheel. Today at last, we have software and hardware I feel can create the image that I saw in my mind’s eye when I captured the raw picture. My oldest pictures were probably shot with one of several Nikon film cameras including an F2AS, an F3 and an FA and scanned with a Nikon film scanner. My first digital camera was a Nikon Coolpix 8800 and I have a great many shots produced with this simple camera. Three years ago I decided that I needed the versatility of a real SLR again and bought a Canon 5D and now I’m using a 5D Mark II and occasionally my pocket CANON G10. Most of the work happens, of course, in Adobe’s Photoshop. I spend many enjoyable late nights parked in front of it’s wondrous and arcane interface! I hope you enjoy the results.
